"Autists are the ultimate square pegs, and the problem with pounding a square peg into a round hole is not that the hammering is hard work. It’s that you’re destroying the peg” - Paul Collins
This is a very meaningful quote about people with autism, and it raises awareness about accepting everyone for who they are. It helps people realize that they should see everyone as equal, that no one is less than anyone else, and that one should look at someone's personality. Putting a square peg into a round hole, is comparing autistic people who are forced to be who they are not. Paul Collins is an American writer, editor and the chair of English at Portland State University, and is well known for spreading awareness about autism with his novel, Not Even Wrong: Adventures in Autism.
Think about this quote this month, and have a great week! Happy World Autism Awareness Month!
